Solaris 10 10/08 Upgrade confusion

cpiroJul 10 2017 — edited Jul 11 2017

Hello,

Im a little bit confused with upgrades for the Solaris OS. My server is at Solaris 10 10/08 s10s_u6wos_07b SPARC and has kernel patch 137137-09.

I need to install some software, actually upgrade software that is currently installed on the server and the requirement of this software state that, Solaris has to be at least at 10 10/08 for SPARC platforms with the appropriate patches and kernel patch version 141444-09 but it also states that there are 2 required patches which are

117461-08 ld.so

119963-13 libC (this is already installed)

I am confused since i found a reference online at

https://blogs.oracle.com/jsch/solaris-10-kernel-patches

which entails that in order for patch 141444-09 to be installed Solaris 10 09/10 needs to be installed?

So can a kernel upgrade to 141444-09 and installation of patch 117461-08 ld.so on the currently installed Solaris 10 10/08 suffice for this or do we have to upgrade Solaris OS to 10 09/10 in order to have the new kernel patch 141444-09?

Also if installing new Solaris OS is the case, will the new kernel patch also be included or does it have to be installed manually?

Any pointers appreciated!

Thanks!
