Solaris 10 1/06 Companion DVD

Why are both SPARC and X86/64 companion volumes combined into a single DVD image when there is so much legacy hardware out there with only CD drives?

I will resort to NFS or ripping the DVD to an ISO and using a loopback mount, but having seperate companion CDs or CD ISOs would just be simpler.
