Hello,
I was trying to install Solaris 11.4 on Dell PowerEdge R740. I tried with all RAID type and every time it complained about "Disk Not found". Later I found that it has PERC H740P RAID Controller Card. But only PERC H730P is supported for Solaris 11.

But I don't see anywhere if it says it is NOT supported or unsupported.
On another blog I read, the main difference between the PERC H730p and the PERC H740p was that on the H740p Dell, removed standard HBA (Host Bus Adapter) support so not allowing the configuration of non-RAID disks. Later Dell released a firmware upgrade implementing HBA mode and, indeed, an enhanced HBA mode.
So I upgraded the firmware of PERC H740P Adapter to 50.5.1-2818. Then I tried to put 2 disks in RAID 1 and in the second attempt, RAID 0, and selected just one disk. In both cases, it is the same behavior.
"No disks found. Additional device drivers may be needed."
If I go ahead and press option 3, for shell. I can see device entries in /dev/dsk, but nothing in format output.
Did I miss something, which I should have tried?
Thanks
