SNMP Monitoring

Hi!

I have a requirement. I have set up a Physical Standby and configured Data Guard also. ( Oracle 9i EE ).

As you all know there is no such thing as automatic failover from the Primary to the Standby in 9i. I need a notification be sent incase the Primary goes down..

How do I do it? I was adviced to use SNMP and monitor the Primary by writing scripts...

But I have no clue . Can anyone help me here ?
