Snapshot Manager for Oracle
778075Jun 9 2010 — edited Jul 11 2010We're trying to imagine a backup strategy with Netapp snapshots, through SMO (Netapp Snapshot Manager for Oracle).
When a snapshot is initiated, a coherent image of the database is made : dbf, controlfiles, redologs and necessary archivelogs.
So, it's OK to clone the database or to restore this coherent image.
At this time, my problem is when I want to recover to a point after the snapshot. SMO doesn't care of all the archivelogs generated between two snapshots and doesn't care of archivelogs retention.
Shall I use another backup system to manager archivelogs ? In this case, the two system must be synchronized...
If somebody has experience with SMO, please, help me !
Thanks.
