SMON Parallel Rollback

451038Jan 24 2007 — edited Jan 25 2007
Hi All,

Can any one explain in detail about SMON Parallel Rollback, which happens during a transaction recovery/rollback. Any impact is seen on the performance of the Database during this type of parallel rollback ?

I have a situation, where the the production instance has some large transaction with huge updates running which is still uncommitted; now while this is going on..., i have taken taken hotbackup of production database and cloned it to form a target database. In this scenario.., where the huge transaction was still uncommited, will the target instance try to rollback this transaction from undo (can it happen that SMON parallel rollback is kicked in ?) . I would also like to remind you that target database is successfully opened for use, but the instance is slow..

Pls explain the above scenario....

Thanks
Sri
