SMC 9432BTX Network Adapter Card

807559Feb 6 2003 — edited Feb 7 2003
First of all, let me explain I am new to Solaris for home use! I have Solaris 8 running on an Intel machine (Gateway). I have added a SMC NIC model 9432BTX as recommended by the HCL for the simple reason it is easy to configure. My goal is to access a Broadband connection via a router. I have the setup working on Windows XP (I'm not a traitor yet!), but not for the Solaris machine.

Second, I've combed through this forum looking for answers from others, and I've gleamed from it the steps I have taken to date. Now, I am asking for the guru's help as I am lost as to what to do next.

The steps I have taken so far is this:
1. Install NIC
2. run prtconf -v |grep pci I discovered the machine recognized the card as pci 10b8,a024.
3. Explored the /etc/driver_aliases and discovered the driver and chipset as spwr pci 10b8,a011 and 83C10700F, respectively.
4. Added the entry into the /boot/solaris/deviceb/master file.
5. run devlinks
6. reboot my computer

Can anyone help me, please?
