SmartView Essbase Connection Behavior - View User

697242May 18 2009
I am trying to confirm that this is expected behavior.
I have a Planning application with a group that is set at 'View User' under Shared Services. They can access the Planning application via a Planning Connection in SmartView and view webforms.

However, if they switch to an Essbase connection in SmartView, they get 'Can not open member selection. Analytic Server Error(1001064) you do not have sufficient access to perform a read on this database'.

If I give the group 'Planner' permissions, they can connect via the Essbase SmartView connection just fine.

Is this expected behavior? And, if so, would a 'Read Only' user that wants to do Adhoc with SmartView require 'Planner' as a Planning Permission?
