Smart View Submit Data error message

I am new to using Smart View and Oracle (FCCS specifically) and am for the first time trying to use the submit data function. I have data in an entity loaded from the GL and have found that while I can submit data to (and so overwrite) an existing data-point (i.e. entity, account, movement & data source combination) I am unable to submit data to either the same data-point but with a different data source or to a different (and currently blank) account and/or entity. It seems as if I can only over-write existing data and am unable to load "new" data. What am I doing wrong? I get an error message that just says Oracle Smart View for Office with a white cross in a red circle and a number 2. I've not been able to find out what this means. Can anyone help?
