Smart view - Request timed out. Extend your Windows Internet Explorer time out settings

Frank PetersSep 13 2016 — edited Sep 21 2016

I am using Smart view V11.1.2.5.500 with Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.3.700. We are executing business rules via the forms on save. When saving a form via the Web, the page waits until the business rule has been executed (unless it takes several minutes and gives a 'nice' message saying the business rule is still running). Via Smart view however I get the following message: The request timed out. Contact your Smart View client system administrator to extend your Windows Internet Explorer time out settings (ReceiveTimeout, KeepAliveTimeout, and ServiceInfoTimeout).

I found these articles on Oracle support:

There are two types of solutions: one is on the client side in regedit and other on the server side in the essbase.properties and essbase.cfg file. I modified both files and restarted the services on the Provider Services server. I keep getting this error when saving a form with a business rule that takes up more than 20-30 seconds.

Is adjusting the registry on the client side the only solution?

Thanks for your help!
