Dear Experts,
One of our customer recently changed their data files location from old SAN to new SAN, since then there has been a performance issues especially during backup validations process after RMAN Level0 backup.
Before moving to new SAN
=====================
We did not encounter any problems with backup validation process, which uses "restore database validate" This validation is identical to a real restore operation except that RMAN does not write output files. We are aware of this.
After moving to new SAN
====================
Users reported performance slowness overall, upon our investigations we found that backup validation was the only process that were spiking CPU usage. None of the regular E-Business Suite programs were causing any issues here.
We have tried 2 things to resolve this issues, one is OS Admin had changed few stuffs on the SAN side, this did not help. Another one, we had stopped validation process, did not help.
When we stopped backup for a day to observe, performance was better, no issues were reported from users.
We also looked @ generic RMAN performance parameters, it all looks fine, nothing had changed in recent times.
What else can be done to alleviate this problem from both database as well on OS side?
thanks
Thiru
