Slow ODBC Connection from MS Access 2000

I currently have an MS Access 2000 application that I would like to connect to an Oracle 9i backend. I noticed that the performance of the linked Oracle tables are slower. I discovered it was because of the subdatasheetname property set as [Auto] on the linked Oracle table. However, because these are linked Oracle tables, I am unable to change the subdatasheetname property from MS Access. Is there any way to change this setting in Oracle?
