Slow DRM External Connection - Database - Oracle

Scott T.Feb 25 2019 — edited Feb 26 2019

Hello all,

I have been attempting to connect DRM to an Oracle DB and 4 out of 5 times I receive a connection timeout error. For reference this is the type of connection I am using:

I put in the Connection String "Datasource= ServerX:PortX/Service Name X" as suggested using the User/PW, filtering to the Schema I'm referencing. Again sometimes it does work; even though it takes a long time to get a response.

I was ultimately able to connect the table I needed by using the "Quick Add" option at the bottom but even that took >=5 minutes.

Additionally:

  • I have this same DRM server connected to a Microsoft database and I get a response within seconds. Overall the DRM server is not slow, only when attempting to retrieve a table list from the Oracle server... once that table is connected I am able to export or import in a reasonable amount of time.
  • I am logged in as an "admin" user of DRM but in no way does this mean I have been given access to the server or the back end materials. I'm hoping for suggestions that I could bring back to those that have access to help resolve my issue.

Please let me know if you have any Questions

Thank you,

Scott T.
