Size of PDF output

Hello,

I have a report which contains one or more images.

If I choose PDF as output format I get a very large PDF file.
I have opened this PDF with Adobe Professional which identifies it as Adobe 6 PDF.
With Adobe Professional I am able to change it to Adobe 8 and compress the size. For example, from 3.4 MB to 0.5 MB

Is there any chance to take influence on the Oracle Reports Server to shrink the size of PDF output or to change the Adobe version from 6 to something new?
