shutting down Oracle 11g installed windows server 2003

Dear experts,

Currently we have one Server HP Proliant ML350 + Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard+Oracle 11g.

Three clients and one excutable file are using this database.

I want to know steps for safely shutting down this server for maintenance purpose.

Should i use start - > shut down option or something else ?
