Shutdown primary database and physical standby database

olbeJan 12 2016 — edited Jan 12 2016

Hi,

because of a planned outage of our electrical power supply we have to shutdown both databases (primary database and physical standby database (each on a separate host)).

We use Oracle DataGuard and DataGuard Broker with protection mode "MAXPERFORMANCE" in "ASYNC".

The database software is Oracle 11.2.0.3.0 (on Windows Server 2008 R2)

What is the best way / sequence for a regular shutdown and later the startup of both databases?

Thanks.

Oliver
