Shrink Temp tablespace in production database during busy period

Hi All,

We are running our production database on 11gR2. During the busy period sometimes we received error -
"ORA-1652: unable to extend temp segment by 128 in tablespace TEMP "

If at this time i try to shrink my temp tablespace using - "alter tablespace temp shrink space;"

Will it affect the long running quries ?

Please suggest.
