showing syntax error while giving input parameter to sql query

Hi,

  I want to give input parameter from\_date and to\_date in sql query but it shows syntax error , please suggest proper syntax.

and TRUNC(DOCDATE) between '01-April-||':pfromyear'||' and '31-March-||':ptoyear'||'
