Should nls_date_format be DD/MM/RRRR or DD/MM/YYYY ?

DB version:11.2
OS : Solaris 10

For NLS_DATE_FORMAT parameter set at DB level, is DD/MM/YYYY preferred over DD/MM/RRRR ? If so, why?
