Setup of remote archive destination for disaster recovery

SudhanshuNov 15 2005 — edited Jan 15 2006
Hello,

I am trying to set up remote archive destination to ship archive logs generated from the production systems to a remote location, using log_archive_dest_2='service...

Database Version: 8.1.7.4 and 9.0.2
Database Size: 260 GB
Operating System: HP-UX B.11.11
Connectivity: Lease Line, 1Gbps
Avg. Archive per day: 300 Mb

I can telnet and ftp the remote servers from the production site

Configuration that needs to be setup
1. Delay: Upto 15 minutes
2. ALTERNATE LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST

Can't setup a standby database, because of the diskspace/cpu requirements at the remote site. Just need to transfer the archive logs to remote destination (...daily incremental backup would be sent to remote site on DLT tapes)

This thread is to request for providing me information that can help me to setup up remote archiving.

Regards
Sudhanshu
