Setting up and sending email messages using JSF/JSP

Hi,

I am looking to add email sending capabilities in my application. Basically, I want my application to generate and send an email to a pre-determined email account/address once a certain action has taken place.

I have heard of the javaMail API, but am a little lost how to use it. I also am aware I need to get a connection to a SMTP server, can this be a Lotus Notes server as the company I work for uses Lotus Notes?

Any information on this subject would be greatly appreciated.
