Setting sga_max_size and memory_target

2700315Jun 30 2014 — edited Jun 30 2014

Using Oracle 11.2 I've set SGA_TARGET to 500M and SGA_MAX_SIZE to 800M.

Now, I decide to let Oracle take over management completly (AMM, right?) and set MEMORY_TARGET to 1000M and MEMORY_MAX_TARGET to 1200M.

SGA_TARGET is now the minimum of Storage allocated by SGA, as far as I figured out.

However, what about SGA_MAX_SIZE? Is this value still "used" and does it make sense to set it?

Regards
Christian
