Set up an Oracle Names Server

430004Sep 26 2004 — edited Mar 20 2012
Hi,

I am trying to setup an Oracle Names Server on my Linux box. The Oracle version I have is 9.2.0.1. I have configure the Oracle Name Server with "netmgr". If I am trying to start it with "namesctl start"

NNL-00024: warning: no preferred name servers in SQLNET.ORA
NNL-00018: warning: could not contact default name server
Starting "/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.1.0/bin/names"...NNL-00017: cannot start server, program "/u01/app/oracle/product/9.2.0.1.0/bin/names" does not exist
SNL-00044: snlfacc: file or path name does not exist
Linux Error: 2: No such file or director

Why is that...because an entry is missing in the sqlnet.ora ? If yes what kind of entry is missing ? Or am I getting the error message because the Oracle Names Server is no longer supported by Oracle and the executables are missing ?

If anyone know please help.

Thanks Marcus
