Set text in textarea afer clicking a button

Hi,

I have a jsp with a textarea & a submit button. My program runs some queries and displays the results in the textarea. I want these queries to run and be displayed only after the user clicks the button, and not when the page is loaded.
what should be the action of the submit buttom ? is there another way of doing this ?
