SESSIONS parameter in RAC

We have a 4 node RAC running 10.2.0.4 under Linux (with Oracle Clusterware and ASM) and with following instance settings:
processes=400
sessions=445 (default).

And we got ORA-00018 with number of processes about 340 per instances.
What would be the right setting for sessions parameter ? The default setting looks wrong. I did not find anything in Oracle doc. or on MOS about SESSIONS setting in RAC.
