Session pgas for 10g automatic management

Jason HarrisOct 12 2009 — edited Oct 13 2009
Hi Everyone,

I have a db with a few hundred connections at any given time. The instance is using automatic memory management. 99% of the sessions login, get/put data, logoff, disconnect etc.. A couple of connections are from java app servers that stay logged in forever, or until the app server is taken down. I've noticed that the pga for those sessions creep ever larger, then the total pga in 6x pga_aggregate_target and started its way into server swap space. These sessions are < 1% of the total # of sessions so the pga tuning advisor shows 100% cache hittage.

Is this the dba's problem ? Does the instance have an internal way to 'clean up' a session's pga and keep it connected ?
