Server Was Powered Down Yet Database Kept Running - How?
807557Apr 6 2010 — edited Apr 6 2010Hello Admins,
Does anyone want to hazard at guess at what's happened here?
My server was supposedly* powered off at the weekend (I say supposedly, as the entire Data Centre had a scheduled power down).
However, I can see the uptime is at 45 days, only a handful of the usual processes are running and even fewer services are in an online state.

Even more bizarrely, the Oracle database is up and running (without any reported) errors plus I'm able to ssh onto the box with no issues.
In fact, the current run level is 5 - which should mean shutdown and poweroff - so I can't understand how enough or any services are facilitating this.

Has the OS gone completely screwy?
Maybe one for CSI or even Scooby Doo!
