Its my first post here. Hoping for the best response from this community. I am a IT manager of a medium-sized company that has been experiencing significant growth in recent years. As a result, my current servers are no longer able to handle the increased demand for processing power and storage capacity. I have determined that it's time to upgrade my servers, and I am trying to decide whether to purchase OEM servers or not.
To provide some background,
If I decide to purchase OEM servers, I will be buying servers directly from the manufacturer, such as Dell, HP, lenovo or IBM. OEM servers are typically more expensive than white box servers (servers that are built using off-the-shelf components), but they come with a number of benefits. First, OEM servers are more reliable and offer better performance than white box servers. They are designed and tested by the manufacturer to work seamlessly with the hardware and software that they offer. This means that we can expect a higher level of stability and fewer compatibility issues when using OEM servers.
Another benefit of OEM servers is that they typically come with a warranty and technical support from the manufacturer. This can be a significant advantage, as it means that we can get help quickly if we experience any problems with our servers. In addition, many manufacturers offer extended warranty and support options that can help maintain our servers over the long term.
Ultimately, the decision of whether to purchase OEM servers or not will its confusion. If I value reliability, performance, and technical support, and I have the budget to invest in OEM servers, they may be the best choice for me.
