Sendmail with external smtp server -> some e-mails don't reach destination

Hi,

We have configured an APEX 3.1.2 instance working under XE and Ubuntu 8.10 + sendmail package. Our problem was some mails got lost when we used standard sendmail procedure (using localhost:25). After looking through many posts we thought this could be a problem of DNS validation (we didn't buy a DNS redirection for emails) therefore e-mails could be rejected at destination mailservers.

Then we decided to pay for an external email SMTP server in order to provide valid email DNS. Therefore, we cofigured our SMTP server under Internal account (Manage Service -> Instance Settings -> Email provisioning). We tryied both SMTP host name and IP an we still have the same problem. Some e-mails reach destinantion and others simply get lost (APEX email queue is always empty). We realized gmail servers received e-mails while others like yahoo or aruba servers don't receive any e-mail.

Any idea of what could be wrong?

Thanks!!
