Select lowest/deepest level in tree

Hi All,

I have a question about trees in APEX. Please see picture below.

Here you see different levels in the tree. I need to make the tree that only the lowest level can be selected and saved. All levels below are not allowed to be saved. Now you can select and save every level. Does anyone has an idea how to do this?
