Select LONG RAW datatype error in PL/SQL

823817Dec 14 2010 — edited Dec 16 2010
I am working with a legacy application that works with LONG RAW datatypes and I need to SELECT a LONG RAW column but PL/SQL gives me an error when I try do this.

ORA-00932: inconsistent datatypes: expected NUMBER got LONG BINARY

Doing some research, LONG RAW is only supported for backward compatibility and should be replaced with LOB.

I tried to declare the variable as BLOB(just to see what would happen) but that failed to.

My next step is to alter the column datatype from LONG RAW to BLOB but if I don't have to do that, then I was wondering if there is another way in which I can get this data?

Thanks for your help,

William.
