This is a duplicate post on the topic. The other post went on for long but I could not get a clarity. I don't have an issue with select lists but wanted to use it correctly . I am aware (at least think it's correct).
- Source is what is used by page to store item's value.
- LOV indicates User friendly values that is easy for user to understand and select.
- Query used in LOV and Source for a select list can be different and has no relation.
Given all this, can some one give a business case/ example wherein LOV and Source have been defined, are not same but are needed to make the field meaningful?

I appreciate your time and patience in the other posts, but you can wait for sometime until someone comes up with a real life example( from a project, not hypothetical), unless you have one from your experience.
