Select list in APEX 4.0 defaulting to the first value in the list

rbheemirOct 14 2010 — edited Apr 29 2011
We recently upgraded APEX from 3.2 to 4.0 and going through our existing applications to check the functionality.

I noticed that the select lists are now defaulting to the first value in the list where in 3.2 we had an extra blank option, which it was defaulting to. This was done by setting the item property 'Display Extra Values' to 'Yes. Now I can get that extra blank row only by setting the property 'Display Null' to 'Yes'.

So now we need to identify all the select list items in all the applications and modify the properties. Is there an easy way to do that.

I can understand this on a new record. But another (bigger) problem is, when we requery an existing record, a select list which was left null when the record was initially saved is now displaying the first value in the list, which is misleading.

Is this a bug in 4.0? Is there a patch? I would really appreciate to know if there is patch, before we take the trouble of changing all of our applications.
