seeking for advice on how to begin a dba career

hi,
I have done MCA (master of computer application) and i've cleared three exams of OCP dba certification (OCA+ backup & recovery). Now i'm preparing for the final one. I've also completed training for oracle 9i dba from a reputed institute (NIIT, delhi).
When I started searching for dba fresher jobs, I could get only two or three in small companies. I've applied for the same but m not getting any interview call. Perhaps this is because of the large no. of dba fresher applicants.

Now I m very depressed since i worked very hard to study dba track and now it seems I opted for a wrong career. Many of my friends have done Oracle developer track and they are getting jobs. Should I have gone for the developer track? Will I have to study the developer track all over again? should i first take the OCP exam n then look for jobs ? I m not able to study bcoz of the confusion.

I m hard-working and I've always scored good marks. but now i m losing heart. I m very much interested in database administration.
What should i do? Different people are saying different things. I m not getting any guidelines. Pl.....z help me !
