SE 11 vs Solaris 11 11/11 - Can't access QNAP share via Nautilius

874746Jan 25 2012 — edited Jan 27 2012
I am new to UNIX but was able to successfully setup a very simple ZFS NAS in SE11. Also was able to easily access my QNAP & WHS2011 shares from SE11 using the SE11 file manager.

However, with Solaris 11 when I try to access the QNAP share for example the Nautilius logon screen (user, workgroup, password screen) immediately comes back as if either the password or user name is incorrect. Can someone explain why this should be different from SE11? Some ACL difference?

Also, the following command does not seem to work as if the smb server package has not been installed:
# smbadm enable -r smb/server

when I install the following package:
# pkg install SUNWsmbs

smbs seems to work. Unclear to me whether SUNWsmbs is the really the best package to use at this point.

Thanks.
