SCSI AIT-2 tapes stuck "Waiting for Reset"

807557May 5 2008 — edited May 13 2008
I have an old Spectralogic tape library that is currently not connected to any system. Both drives in the library are AIT-2 and have tapes loaded, and the Eject button does not eject the tape. The LEDS are in a state that the manual describes as "Waiting for Reset" (STATUS off, TAPE steady on, BUSY flashing 1/4 sec every 1.25 sec.)

Does "waiting for reset" mean the AIT-2 cannot eject a tape until it is talking to a SCSI Driver?

I think there is a pin hole for manually forcing an eject but it is not accessible while the drive is in an enclosure.
