Screen flickering, java forms look strange upon install of JRE, latest.

System:
Windows XP Pro SP1
AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800
BFG GeForce 7800 GTX OC
BFG GeForce 7800 GTX OC
OCZ GOLD DDR 2048MB
Asus A8N SLI Deluxe mobo
** All drivers for all hardware fully updated as of this date, including directX.

Problem:
After I've installed the JRE, my screen will randomly flicker when certain things load or close, and as well when I go to the Java icon in the control panel and click on it, the form that loads looks fuzzy and strange. I've installed several different times before and after a reformat and reinstall with the same results.
