SAP ASE and Amanda on Solaris 11

User_C6PNKJan 10 2019 — edited Jan 14 2019

We recently migrated our application and database to new Solaris 11 virtual servers and are experiencing some CPU issues despite the upgrade in ram and CPU. We are using the amanda backup system, installed on our virtual database server, along with an instance of SAP ASE 16.0. We already have occasional slowdown during database dumps and transact dumps, and are currently working with SAP to help with that, but we are also experiencing slowdown when Amanda attempts to backup to a holding directory. Amanda is installed on the database server, with an amanda client installed on the application server. backing up large files or directories result in poor CPU performance on the database server, often resulting in slow database performance, particularly when we attempt to backup the executables on the application server and the database backup file on the database server (usually about 6 GB and 40 GB respectively. I'm looking for any commands, or a combination of commands, that will help me monitor CPU and memory usage on the database server while Amanda is running the dump.
