SAN to SAN replication of Oracle database

ShashiJul 26 2011 — edited Jul 27 2011
There has been some discussion in our organization for setting up a DR environment using SAN based replication .

I did some googling and fould that its not a good option to consider this type of replication especially for oracle database .

I would like to have more details :

1] How does oracle dataguard technology better than SAN replicaiton ?
2] If SAN replication is used , then how the Data integrity is maintained ?
3] As a DBA , do we have to perfrom any additional steps in case the primary site is gone and DB has to be brought up on the DR site ? OR just bring up the db on DR site ?
