SAN level Disaster Recovery solution

user10235186Apr 19 2012 — edited Apr 23 2012
I have been working on a NetApp SAN level DR solution for one of our major application , which involves data stores ( ZFS, NFS ) and Oracle Databases.
I am using Snap Mirror to snap Oracle Databases, setting up replication using protection manger , seems to work pretty good but curious if any one ever done a SAN based DR , I just don't wont to be surprised later on down the road.

The way it works is , one time it ships all the volumes ( we have dedicated volumes , so that we don't ship data thats not needed ) that belong to the database to DR site.
From then on all changed blocks are sent out every 10min.
On other advantage of San DR solution , is I am working to replicating Oracle executables also , which basically makes by DR site maintenance fee if it works :) , planning to expand this for all other 3rd party software.

I know I can use Data Guard for my databases , but planning to use one single solution for entire application. reduce some software cost, maintenance cost.

Would like to you your thoughts on this.

Thank You appreciate your feedback.
