Hello all,
I have tried and invested About three weeks in an attempt to install Oracle database to practice SQL, but so far had no luck with correctly installing the database I have currently given up for now and today i found the Oracle DB developer VM, in a hope that I'll be able to get some sample database to play with, querying the database using SQL. Ideally a sample application that could generate data, and I can query the database using sqlplus to retrieve and manipulate data from terminal. I have installed the vm now on Virtual box but don't know how to get what I need.
I'm not sure if this platform could help me? i have one year application support experience where i had to work with both MSSQL and oracle.
I want to kinda create my own home lab as a play ground to see how the whole application story work specifically the database side of it.
With Microsoft I'm fine, i have downloaded the Win server 2008 and sql server 2008r2 the 180 days trial and everything is working fine.
But so far i had no luck with Oracle, although after a long struggle i mange to install oracle 11g on centos vm but still not sure if it will server the purpose or not and if i will how can I do that?
Please guide me if there is a way either using the APEX platform or if there is a way to download and install sample database either in APEX OR oracle 11g db that I have installed on centos virtual machine.
or in simple words how do I create an Oracle environment like Microsoft where I have installed the 180 days evaluation platform, downloaded the adventure works sample databases to play with
Any help, ideas, guidance will be highly appreciated and will save me lots of time.
Many many thanks in advance.
