Samba state- Maintenance

834436Jan 26 2011 — edited Jan 27 2011
Hello all,
please help. I have spent the past 2 days trying to troubleshoot samba server on my Solarish 10 to go "online." Thus far, I only get "maintenance." If anyone could point me to the right direction I would highly appreciate it.
I have read almost every google page that has to do with samba configuration, but I still have no luck. Please see output:

svcs -xv samba
svc:/network/samba:default (SMB file server)
State: maintenance since January 26, 2011 9:43:00 AM EST
Reason: Method failed repeatedly.
See: http://sun.com/msg/SMF-8000-8Q
See: man -M /usr/sfw/man -s 1m smbd
See: man -M /usr/sfw/man -s 4 smb.conf
See: /var/svc/log/network-samba:default.log
Impact: This service is not running.
cat /var/svc/log/network-samba\:default.log | tail -5
kill: 1289: no such process
[ Jan 26 09:43:00 Method "stop" exited with status 2 ]
[ Jan 26 09:43:00 Executing stop method ("/usr/bin/kill `cat /var/samba/locks/smbd.pid`") ]
kill: 1289: no such process
[ Jan 26 09:43:00 Method "stop" exited with status 2 ]

I test and get no error from:
/usr/sfw/bin/testparm
One thing I notice is that "samba" is not in /etc/init.d/ . So I cannot do:
/etc/init.d/samba start
I am at a point where I want to uninstall and reinstall samba server fresh, but this is another topic.
Please help.
Thanks
TN
