Running first program

Since my computer is on dial-up, my husband downloaded the software bundle that includes both NetBeans and JDK 5.0 onto a CD and then we loaded it onto my computer. I am having trouble trying to run my first program. I get the message ; 'javac' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

I am new to programming, so I would appreciated any help I can get.
