running a standby database on a Mini-cluster

3883859Apr 8 2019

Here is my question.

I have inherited a mini-cluster that has Dataguard standbys on it that were NOT created via (bui -- how could they be??).

These are operational but the cluster and the MCMU doesn't know about at least one of them. I am not sure but I

do not believe this is an Oracle Sanctioned Configuration.

I have read that @ the O/S level running Solaris Zones configurations outside of the MCMU is an issue but as much I I have looked

(and that is a lot), I cannot seem to locate any blog or doc that instructs a   'manual' approach to creating databases on the Mini-cluster.

I have no idea what this might do to the MCUM bui and its ties to the O/S software. All I know is on where this has been done, there are very

strange results to simply adding a database (Single, Rac-One, RAC)  using the bui now. All of them fail. I am wondering if something got

hosed.

Any perspective on these issues ( manual creation without bui of cli) and not being able to use the bui to create dbs now would be helpful.

Seems to me that the is not a supportable and Sanctioned configuration but I want to make sure.

Thanks,
