RS232 cable what?

I have been told that to connect a Sun to a PC Port a to Com1 to
connect from the PC to the SUN via hyperterminal or Tera term pro
that It is necessary to use a null modem cable. Obviously that is not
what I have and have been trying to use a breakout box to verify.
Does anyone have the directions on what and how to setup this
connection. I cannot find anything on the web about it.
