RPAD not working with Japanese language string

3229692Dec 20 2016 — edited Dec 20 2016

HI All,

I am passing a Japanese text via a procedure. the logic is if the text message is having less than 40 characters then it will be padded by SPACE in right hand side.

but somehow this is not working. Can you please let us know the root-cause or solution for this. Same code is working for all other language. but not happening for Japanese. Output is coming as same as input.

Can anybody please help.

Below is the text which we need to RPad. this is having length 31. hence 9 spaces are expected to be padded in right hand side.

"ジャケット Belice 婦人用 grau/blau/gelb"

We are padding  like this --->  v_msg := v_language || rpad(v_ben, 40)     ---------------   (here v_ben is having the above mentioned text)
