I am wondering if akin to ROWNUM, there is some pseudo-column i can select with my records to get the last time that the data in the row was physically updated in Oracle, to allow me to eliminate the need for a MODIFIED column and associated triggers or insert/update columns in my own code...

something like
SELECT MYCOL1, MYCOL2, MYCOL3, <ROWUPDATE> FROM MYTABLE

Where ROWUPDATE is the hypothetical pseudo-column.
Does this exist? Thanks in advance - Aaron.
