root.sh script in CRS(Grid Installation)

York35May 4 2011 — edited May 4 2011
RDBMS version :10.2.0.4.0, 11.2.0.2
OS : Solaris 5.10 SPARC

I have 2 questions regarding root.sh execution done at the end of CRS installation.

*1*.What is the single most important task that root.sh does ?

In my opinion :On the first node, root.sh initializes the OCR.
On the remaining nodes, root.sh adds the new nodes to the OCR. Would you guys agree with this?

*2*.Are there any major differences between root.sh executions in 10.2.0.4.0 and 11.2.0.2
