ROI (remote object invocatio) - when to use?

843789Mar 2 2010 — edited Apr 5 2010
Sorry this is isn't strictly to do with coding of any type so i applogise for posting here, but was hopeful of a reply from some of you experienced guys as to when this maybe used. I realsie java provides some utilities - such as the remote method invocation (rmi) library but in what instance would we think about using roi when creating some software. I am learning about it now but cant seem to grasp hold of a real world placement for it...

Maybe i havent learnt it well enough :S

Thanks
