Rman restore with overwrite DB

Hi,

I understand we can take a RMAN backup X machine and restore to Y machine. In my case, the destination Y machine has the same DB name. I hope that  need to overwrite the DB.

How to I restore in the following scenarios: 

If i have a same DB name but different file physical structure, does it work.

If i have a same DB name and same physical structure.
